Beschreibung

How can circular innovations help life sciences companies reduce waste, keep valuable resources in use and advance their sustainability and net-zero ambitions?

Circular Solutions for Life Sciences brings together selected circular startups and representatives from pharmaceutical, medtech, healthcare, and related industries in Switzerland.

The event provides a focused platform for startups to present practical, market-ready solutions and connect directly with companies looking for new approaches, technologies, and collaboration opportunities.

What to expect

The programme combines startup pitches and Q&A sessions, followed by networking. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Discover market-ready circular solutions relevant to the life sciences sector
  • Exchange directly with startup founders and industry representatives
  • Explore concrete use cases and areas of common interest
  • Initiate follow-up discussions and potential pilot collaborations

The solutions presented may address areas such as sustainable materials, packaging, laboratory consumables, waste reduction, reuse and recycling systems, logistics, industrial symbiosis, circular procurement, and resource efficiency.

Registration

Participation requires advance registration. Register for the event via this eventfrog page. The number of participants is limited due to the venue’s capacity. We therefore recommend registering early to secure your place.

Meet the presenting startups

Discover the startups presenting practical innovations for a more circular and resource-efficient life sciences sector. More presenting startups will be announced shortly.

klaro is a digital waste and resource management solution that gives companies greater transparency over their waste streams, costs and recycling processes. By combining operational waste management with data analysis, invoice verification and optimisation, klaro helps organisations reduce waste, improve recycling and keep valuable materials in circulation.

Presented by: Göknur Bektas, Founder & Managing Director, klaro

GreenCheck Biotech AG replaces the plastic housings and components of conventional lateral flow rapid tests with a patented, cellulose-based design made from up to 97% renewable materials. This cuts fossil-based plastic in single-use diagnostics and enables shorter, local supply chains. As a drop-in, OEM-ready solution for point-of-care testing across diagnostic fields, it gives the life sciences sector a direct way to reduce plastic waste without changing existing assay workflows.

Presented by: Javier Sánchez, CEO

Beyond Diagnostics is developing LUMIQ, a point-of-use test that verifies whether temperature-sensitive biologic medicines such as insulin are still effective before use. By helping avoid the unnecessary disposal and replacement of medicines whose quality is uncertain, LUMIQ supports more circular use of high-value life-science products, reducing pharmaceutical waste, resource consumption, and unnecessary cold-chain losses.

Presented by: Dr. Maren Schinz, CEO & Founder

Elio provides LCA data for pharmaceutical chemicals that are missing from leading LCA databases. Its auditable, deterministic and automated product carbon footprint calculation engine models synthetically made chemicals based on documented synthesis routes from patents and literature. By closing these data gaps, Elio enables pharmaceutical companies to integrate carbon impact into ecodesign and make more informed, lower-carbon choices when designing synthesis routes.

Presented by: Kami Krista, Co-founder & CEO, Elio

Prevision Medicine helps oncologists identify potentially effective treatments for individual patients by testing live cancer cells against hundreds of drugs. Its approach also explores off-label applications and new uses for existing medicines, helping uncover additional value from already available treatments.

Presented by: Dr. Philip Zimmermann, CEO of Prevision Medicine

Who should attend?

The event is particularly relevant for:

  • Sustainability and circular-economy professionals
  • Innovation and business-development teams
  • Procurement and supply-chain specialists
  • Research, production and facility-management representatives
  • Startups and solution providers working at the intersection of circular economy and life sciences
  • Organisations interested in developing concrete pilot projects and partnerships

Organisers

The event is organised by Circular Economy Switzerland (CES) Circle Basel and Go Circular in Life Sciences (GCiLS), with the support of BaselCircular and the FHNW School of Life Sciences.

We look forward to an inspiring evening of practical solutions, meaningful exchange, and new opportunities for collaboration.
