New Kyd
Chanson Noire: The Tale of Pomegranates

EN New Kyd is a dance practitioner whose work integrates choreography, sound, voice, and performance. Kyd approaches performance as research and as a site of transmission, retelling orisha stories through non-linear narratives and acts of refusal. Drawing on modern and postmodern dance history, popular culture, and supernatural dances, Kyd creates intimate choreographies and sonic landscapes. Yoruba cosmology and hauntological speculation structure the work, with Yoruba religious practice informing Kyd’s investigative approach.
