Emosson Dam Autumn Photography Trip – 10 October 2026

Join us for an unforgettable photography workshop at the spectacular Emosson Dam, one of the most breathtaking alpine locations in southwestern Switzerland. In early autumn, golden larch forests, crystal-clear alpine lakes, dramatic granite peaks and panoramic views of the Mont Blanc Massif create an extraordinary setting for landscape photography.

Throughout the afternoon, we will explore carefully selected locations around the Emosson Lake, discovering a remarkable variety of compositions ranging from sweeping mountain panoramas to elegant foregrounds and reflections. Surrounded by the rugged granite peaks of the Mont Blanc Massif, this high-alpine landscape offers endless creative inspiration.

Our workshop concludes with a sunset photography session overlooking the lake and the majestic Mont Blanc, where the warm evening light and changing mountain atmosphere provide exceptional photographic opportunities.

Whether you are an enthusiastic beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop is designed to strengthen both your technical skills and your artistic vision while exploring one of the Swiss Alps' most spectacular landscapes.

What You'll Learn

• Fundamentals of landscape composition and visual storytelling

• Understanding mountain light and changing weather conditions

• Working with foregrounds, reflections and visual depth

• Advanced techniques including:

  • Focus stacking

  • Perspective blending

  • Exposure blending

  • Time blending

• Planning landscape photography using weather and light forecasting tools

• Optimising camera settings:

  • Aperture

  • Shutter speed

  • ISO

  • Exposure compensation

• Effective use of photographic filters:

  • Polarising filters

  • Neutral Density (ND) filters

Throughout the workshop, participants receive personal guidance from an internationally awarded landscape photographer, helping them strengthen both their technical abilities and creative vision.

1:00 – 5:00 PM – Exploring the Emosson Region

Throughout the afternoon, we will explore several carefully selected locations around Emosson Lake, taking advantage of the exceptional variety of landscapes that make this area one of the finest photography destinations in the Swiss Alps.

Subjects include:

• Crystal-clear alpine lakes

• Golden larch forests

• Rugged granite peaks

• Panoramic views of the Mont Blanc Massif

• Dramatic mountain landscapes

• Foregrounds, reflections and creative compositions

Throughout the session, participants will receive individual guidance while refining their compositions and learning to work creatively with changing mountain light.

5:00 – 7:00 PM – Sunset Photography at Emosson Lake

Our final session takes place along the shores of the spectacular Emosson Lake.

This exceptional alpine setting offers breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc Massif and the surrounding granite peaks. Depending on the conditions, participants will have the opportunity to create both expansive mountain panoramas and elegant lake reflections as the warm evening light transforms the landscape.

As the sun sets, we will explore different creative approaches while making the most of the remarkable autumn colours, dramatic alpine scenery and the unique atmosphere that makes Emosson one of Switzerland's premier landscape photography destinations.

7:15 PM – End of Workshop

After sunset, we pack our equipment and return to the meeting point.

Travel Information

By Car (Recommended)

Travelling by car is strongly recommended, as it provides the flexibility to remain on location until after sunset and fully enjoy the beautiful evening light.

Participants travelling by public transport may return with the workshop leader to the nearest railway station, subject to availability.
