LUMA presents the launch of Studio of the South, a publication based on the residency hosted in Arles by LUMA and artist Laura Owens, produced by LUMA Foundation and JPRingier.
To mark the launch of the publication, Laura Owens will be in conversation with curator Bice Curiger and artists and former residents Miriam Laura Leonardi und Gabriele Garavaglia. The conversation will be followed by a book signing.
The publication focuses on the Studio of the South residency (2020–2023), initiated by Maja Hoffmann and LUMA Foundation, together with Laura Owens. Over a period of three years, 23 international artists lived and worked in a shared domestic setting in Arles. Drawing on the legacy of Vincent van Gogh’s time in the city, the project explores the home as a site of artistic production, collaboration, and exchange. Over time, the house was transformed through a range of artistic interventions, becoming a collective and immersive work shaped by its residents.
