Kallemi (كلمي), Arabic for “Speak to me” in a female voice, was founded in 2018 by Rasha Nahas, Maysa Daw, La Nefera, and Jasmin Albash, as the result of a collaborative musical project between Swiss, Palestinian, and Dominican musicians.
Born on the path between Basel and Ramallah via Haifa and Berlin, the ensemble began as part of an exchange project by Kaserne Basel. It was first introduced in Ramallah during Palestine Music Expo and worked intensively to prepare for a one-time show in Basel.
Yet, straight off the stage in Switzerland, it was clear to everyone that the project would not stop there. The band was almost instantly booked internationally, performing in Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Palestine, the UK, and beyond – building a loyal and growing following and inspiring audiences with their raw energy and global narratives.

Kallemi, arabisch für „Sprich zu mir“ in weiblicher Stimme, wurde 2018 von Jasmin Albash, La Nefera, Maysa Daw und Rasha Nahas gegründet.
Das Ensemble entstand auf dem Weg zwischen Basel und Ramallah über Haifa und Berlin und begann als Ergebnis eines Austauschprojekts der Kaserne Basel. Die Gruppe traf sich erstmals in Ramallah und arbeitete intensiv an den Vorbereitungen für eine einmalige Show in der Kaserne Basel. Doch gleich nach dem Auftritt in der Schweiz war allen klar, dass das Projekt damit nicht enden würde.
Das genreübergreifende Ensemble verwischt auf organische Weise die Grenzen zwischen Hip-Hop, Rock und R&B und verbindet tiefe Butter-Beats mit weltmusikalisch beeinflussten Percussions, getaucht in kühne, verzerrte Gitarrenklänge mit gefühlvollem, zartem und doch kraftvollem Gesang auf Arabisch, Englisch und Spanisch.
Mit Auftritten in Kanada, der Schweiz, Deutschland, Palästina und darüber hinaus hat Kallemi eine treue und wachsende Fangemeinde aufgebaut und das Publikum mit seiner rohen Energie und seinen globalen Erzählungen begeistert.
