June Yun’s first album, Enlightenment – Solid Waves, pictured the study towards finding the many feelings and thoughts that were lost and couldn’t be described within the fast-moving society we live in. Her next theme reflects the process of “finding the positive seed in every ugly or dark experience we face in our lives.” Still unfinished, yet unquestionably “thematically cohesive and beautifully executed” (Dan McClenaghan, All About Jazz), Yun brings this evolving work to the stage in an honest and deeply connecting way.

Blending jazz, classical music, Korean traditional music, and her early influence of R&B, Yun has created her own palette and genre. Her compositional process is rooted in meaning, where everything has a purpose and is deeply thought through, and the musicians she plays with are also a special part of it.
The oollim project
With her Berlin-based ensemble, the oollim project, Yun presents mainly original compositions that reflect the themes of community and people that run throughout her music, creating an intimate and immersive musical experience.
