We have played it with authorities, managers, students, citizens, indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest, researchers all over the world, experts, journalists, consultants, game-enthusiasts and game-sceptics.
No specific knowledge is needed to take part. We tailor the session to match participants’ experience and interest.
Summary
Planet C is an emotional and immersive workshop to explore the levers of collective action and the ecological transition.
- Participants play a game based on the tragedy of the commons. They land in a new ecosystem (on Planet C) and collect biomass to survive.
- The game is played twice with different communication rules, often resulting in very different outcomes.
- The participants debrief how their own behavior and in-game relationships collectively improved (or degraded) their situation. They are presented with the relevant supporting research and equip themselves to apply the learnings to their own circles and organizations.

The workshop itself is the topic of active research, for it poses two challenges: the in-game challenge and the research challenge. The latter is the current inability to predict the outcome of the in-game challege even when given data on the participants. The workshop session may be used, with participant approval, precisely to help in this research.
Because, after all, there is no Planet B!
This workshop will be facilitated by Jeffrey Belt, Ronan Gayme and/or Claude Garcia, all trained by the Planet C association in France. The workshop fee will be transfered to the Planet C NGO to help fund the workshop's deployment and upgrades to its software platform.
