St. Nicholas weekend is one of Fribourg’s most iconic and beloved traditions - a festive moment full of magic, music, and local culture. This year, let’s experience it together!
Plan for the day:
We’ll meet at Place Georges-Python, right under the bandstand, before diving into the heart of the Saint-Nicolas celebrations.
🎄 Exploring the stands:
We’ll start by wandering through the festive market stands - perfect for discovering local treats, warming up with some vin chaud, and enjoying the atmosphere, activities and music.
🎉 Parade at 17:00:
At 5 PM, we’ll watch the famous St. Nicholas parade, where Saint Nicolas rides from the Collège St-Michel through the decorated streets, accompanied by choirs, musicians, and the traditional pères fouettards. A highlight you don’t want to miss!
đź“Ł Speech at 18:00:
At 6 PM, we’ll head toward the Cathedral to hear the traditional speech from the balcony - a fun and iconic moment of the celebration.
