This masterclass will be conducted in English by Martin Markvardsen, Senior Global Brand Ambassador for Highland Park. Martin has been an ambassador for Highland Park since 2006, has worked in the whisky industry for nearly 36 years, and was inducted as a Master of the Quaich in 2021.
The focus of the masterclass is heather and its influence on the style of Highland Park. It will explain how Orkney peat, which contains a high proportion of heather, shapes the smoke character, aromas, and flavor profile of the whiskies. In addition, the key production steps and cask selection will be discussed.
During the evening, five different Highland Park whiskies will be tasted. Each whisky demonstrates a different aspect of the Highland Park style and highlights the impact of heather and maturation. The tasting will be accompanied by a carefully curated food pairing, designed to complement and enhance the aromatic and flavor profiles of each whisky.
The masterclass is factual, clearly structured, and suitable for both beginners and advanced participants.
