Hike to Sonogno & Lavertezzo

Join us for a beautiful day trip to the famous Valle Verzasca in Ticino! 💙

We will travel together from Lucerne to Sonogno, a charming mountain village at the end of the valley. From there, we'll follow the Verzasca River on a scenic hike towards Lavertezzo, passing traditional stone villages, crystal-clear water, and impressive waterfalls along the way.

The route is considered easy to moderate and is suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness. Compared to hikes such as Oeschinensee or the Aletsch Glacier trails, this hike is less demanding, with very little elevation gain and well-maintained paths throughout.

Hike details
🥾 Distance: approx. 14 km
⛰️ Elevation gain: minimal (around 50 m)
⏱️ Hiking time: approx. 3 – 4 hours (excluding breaks)
💪 Difficulty: Easy – Moderate

Depending on the group's pace and weather conditions, we may include a short detour to the beautiful La Froda waterfall. We will also make regular breaks whenever needed and enjoy a longer rest stop along the route. Around lunchtime, we'll stop in one of the villages where there are restaurants available, but participants are also welcome to bring their own picnic.

Our destination is Lavertezzo, home to the iconic Ponte dei Salti bridge and some of the most famous swimming spots in Ticino. We'll have time to relax by the river and enjoy the sunshine.

After a relaxing afternoon in Lavertezzo, we'll travel back to Lucerne together and arrive in the evening.

Bring proper shoes, sufficient water, sun protection and your best summer mood! 🌞
