CHRIS BUCK

Chris Buck is a Welsh guitarist and songwriter whose playing has always been less concerned with virtuosity for its own sake than with the spaces between the notes; touch, phrasing, dynamics and the elusive business of making a guitar actually say something. As a founding member of Cardinal Black, Chris has spent the past several years taking that approach around the world, from sold out venues in Europe and North America to the Royal Albert Hall. Along the way, his playing has earned recognition from major publications and fellow guitarists alike from Slash to Joe Satriani. His long-running Friday Fretworks series has accumulated over 40 million views, introducing a global audience to his thoughtful, instinctive approach to the instrument.

In 2026, Yamaha released the Chris Buck Signature Revstar RS02CB, developed in close collaboration with Chris around the guitar that have become central to his sound. His clinics explore the things that are hardest to teach, but perhaps matter most; feel, phrasing, restraint, improvisation and finding a voice of your own.
