Simulakrum presents the Berlin premiere of the dance performance SYNESTHETIC FLESH choreographed by Eduard Adam Orszulik. The piece draws from his doctoral research, which views rave culture as a liminal ritual of the contemporary world. In this work, the author intertwines dance art with anthropological and philosophical concepts, reflecting on key aspects of the rave scene.

Rave embodies the essence of collective sensuality, an immersive and hyperreal journey during which participants are carried into alternative worlds through repetitive movement, the interplay of sound, and light. The dance floor becomes a secular ritual space emancipating freedom.

The project was created in collaboration with an international team of artists and seeks a deeper understanding of rave culture as a subculture whose ethos and practices bring important values to mainstream society, such as togetherness, collectivity, free individual expression, inclusion and rejection of all forms of violence and discrimination. The rave scene also facilitates a return to non-religious spirituality and by its progressive nature destabilises traditional binary understandings of gender roles.
