Organoid technology has transformed modern biomedical research by providing powerful human-relevant model systems that recapitulate key aspects of tissue architecture, function, and disease. Over the past decade, organoids have evolved from developmental models into versatile platforms to investigate stem cell behaviour, organogenesis, tissue homeostasis, regeneration, host–microenvironment interactions, and personalised medicine.
Recent advances combining organoids with single-cell and spatial omics, genome engineering, advanced imaging, organ-on-chip technologies, and computational approaches are opening unprecedented opportunities to understand human biology at multiple scales.
