With the entry into force of the new EU Battery Regulation, global and Swiss industry is facing profound change. From February 2027, the Digital Battery Passport will be mandatory – a requirement that extends far beyond the borders of the EU. Anyone exporting, processing, or distributing batteries within the EU must be able to provide complete, transparent data on the entire life cycle of these energy storage devices. For Swiss manufacturers, exporters, and suppliers, this means: the pressure to act is real, and time is of the essence.

Christian Ochsenbein, Head of Swiss Battery Technology Center, sbtc.sipbb.ch

Christian Ochsenbein is an expert in battery technologies, energy storage, and electromobility with over 16 years of industry experience. As Head of the Swiss Battery Technology Center and a member of the management team at the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne, he drives practical innovations and shapes the Swiss battery ecosystem as Vice President of Swiss Battery Association iBAT. His previous leadership roles include co-directing the BFH Energy Storage Research Centre and playing key roles at e-mobility pioneers such as Designwerk.

Dr. Andreas Hutter, Co- director of the CSEM Battery Innovation Hub, csem.ch

Andreas Hutter studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, where he also earned his doctorate in cooperation with BMW. He has worked at CSEM since 2001, focusing on technology transfer throughout his career. Since 2010, he has coordinated energy activities in various positions. Today, he heads the Battery Systems group and is the managing co-director of the CSEM Battery Innovation Hub in Neuchâtel. Andreas has also served as a technical expert for Innosuisse and the Federal Office of Transport (within the framework of the Energy Strategy for Public Transport 2050 program) and played a key role in the founding of iBAT, the Swiss Battery Association, where he currently serves on the board.

Peter Krummenacher is CEO and co-founder of BloqSens AG, with a long track record in the IT and tech industry. He supports companies with standards-based software solutions for implementing the Digital Product Passport (DPP) in accordance with EU regulations. He also represents BloqSens in key standardization bodies and networks such as GS1, Circular Economy Switzerland (CES), iBat , and the Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV) to actively contribute to shaping practical standards for digital product identities.
