Barrier-free accessibility means that people with different physical, sensory or cognitive abilities can attend and utilise an event without assistance. When you create an event on Eventfrog, you can indicate whether your event is barrier-free. This information helps potential visitors with planning.

What counts as barrier-free?

An event is generally considered barrier-free if several of the following criteria are met:

  • Step-free access to the venue (e.g. at ground level or with a ramp)
  • Presence of a lift or stairlift
  • Wheelchair-accessible toilet
  • Sufficiently wide doors and aisles for wheelchairs
  • Clearly readable signage
  • Possibility of bringing an accompanying person or assistance dog
  • Support from staff on site (e.g. at the entrance)

Depending on the type of disability, further measures may be required, such as

  • Seating for people with limited walking ability
  • Induction loops or other aids for people with hearing impairments
  • Good lighting and high-contrast design for people with visual impairments

How to indicate barrier-free accessibility at Eventfrog

When entering an event, you will find the option: ‘Event is barrier-free’ in the event features section

If you tick this checkbox, an additional text field with the title ‘Information on barrier-free accessibility’ will appear.
You can enter details there. This information is displayed on the event page and helps visitors to assess whether the visit is possible for them.
