Is my event barrier-free?
Barrier-free accessibility means that people with different physical, sensory or cognitive abilities can attend and utilise an event without assistance. When you create an event on Eventfrog, you can indicate whether your event is barrier-free. This information helps potential visitors with planning.
Overview:
What counts as barrier-free?
An event is generally considered barrier-free if several of the following criteria are met:
- Step-free access to the venue (e.g. at ground level or with a ramp)
- Presence of a lift or stairlift
- Wheelchair-accessible toilet
- Sufficiently wide doors and aisles for wheelchairs
- Clearly readable signage
- Possibility of bringing an accompanying person or assistance dog
- Support from staff on site (e.g. at the entrance)
Depending on the type of disability, further measures may be required, such as
- Seating for people with limited walking ability
- Induction loops or other aids for people with hearing impairments
- Good lighting and high-contrast design for people with visual impairments
How to indicate the accessibility of your event
When creating your event, you’ll find the option «Event is barrier-free» in the section «Features & Target audience».
Here’s how it works:
- Tick the checkbox «Event is barrier-free»
- A new text field will then appear, titled «Information on barrier-free accessibility»
Enter further details here, for example:
– Is there step-free access?
– Are accessible toilets available?
– Are there designated spaces for wheelchair users?
These details will soon be displayed directly on your event page. This allows attendees to better assess whether your event is accessible to them and helps them plan their visit more easily.
You can also update or add this information later at any time in the Cockpit under «Features & Target audience».
