We are coming together as a dance community
to celebrate our lives and connections via dance. 
We dance Festival brings various dance communities together that have shared values such as Connection, embodiment and exploration. We will have Contact improvisation as the heart of the experience while enjoying Gaga and ecstatic dance as a beautiful spice to juice up the day!  

About the modalities:

 Contact improvisation Jam 

We will begin the day by having a Jam practice in the main Church Hall. 
In parallel we will have a 90min' Beginners Class Led by Mara Natterer in the beauitiful back Saal. 
 

Gaga People

"Gaga is about listening to our body before we tell it what to do."  - Ohad Naharin 

Géraldine Chollet, dancer and Choreogropher, is an expirianced Gaga teacher as she trained in gaga in 2006 with Ohad Naharin, in Tel aviv. Normally, she is based in Lausanne, yet we have the previliage to have her join us and teach a class in the Paulus Kirche.

Class Into Jam 
"Through Contact Improvisation, we cultivate awareness of our bodies in motion, deepening our connection to ourselves, our partners, and the world around us" - Steve Paxton

Dorothee Daester will giving us a 45min' class that will lead us into a long long Jam. 

Ecstatic Dance
"In Ecstatic Dance, we honor the freedom of expression and the joy of being fully alive in the present moment"

Ariella Azran will guide us into a subtle wildreness warm-up into the dance. While the music will be guided by the wonderful DJ Django, who is also a Contact improvisation dancer.

Location:

The festival will take place in Kulturkirche Paulus, which is one of the most beautiful Churches in Basel with a beautiful outside area aswell. 

The space has the main church Hall, plus another smaller Saal with 100m2, a chill out area and mini Kitchens and the terrasse - The whole church is ours to enjoy. Scroll down to see address and map.

Floor:

The main church hall has a beautiful new wooden floor,  and the Saal has a beautiful fishbone wooden floor.

10:00 - 10:15- Opening circle

10:15 - 11:45  Contact improvisation Jam - For expirianced

10:15 - 11:45  Beginners class Led by Mara Natterer

12:00 - 13:00 - Gaga Class- Led by Geraldin Chollet

13:00 - 14:30 -Shared Lunch

14:30 - 18:30- Class Into Jam - Led by Dorothée Däster

18:30- 19:15- Shared Dinner

19:30 - 22:00 - Ecstatic Dance - DJ Django & Led by Ariella Azran

22:00- Closing Circle  

Food:

Everyone brings something delicious to contribute to the shared buffet for Lunch and for Dinner. There is a community kitchennet where you could prepare things, and have some coffee and tea.

Accomodation:

For thos living outside of Basel and would like to stay the night for the Sunday's Jam the next day, starting at 14:00. - Maybe someone from the community could host you, also we are currently waiting for a response from a studio for people to sleep in for 10.- per night.

Tickets:You have the freedom to choose if you participate all day, or get single entry tickets for the expiriances you like and are available for.
