"The Lightness of Being" - Group Art Exhibition

We are delighted to invite you to a unique art exhibition, "The Lightness of Being" featuring the captivating works of three artists—Alejandra Abad, Amy Ang, and Ghiya Haidar. This exhibition is the culmination of a serendipitous meeting of kindred spirits from three different continents, united in Zurich, Switzerland.

Alejandra Abad, of Ecuadorian origin, Ghiya Haidar, with roots in Lebanon, and Amy Ang, hailing from Singapore, bring together their diverse cultural heritages and Swiss influences to explore the theme of lightness. Their art is a reflection of their journeys, where the weight of their experiences is uplifted by the lightness of creativity, community, and connection.

Beyond aesthetics, this exhibition carries a deeper purpose: 5% of all proceeds from the sale of artworks will be donated to Cuisine Sans Frontières, an organization dedicated to using gastronomy for social impact, with active projects in Ecuador and Lebanon.

About the artists 

Alejandra Abad is a Swiss-Ecuadorian artist. For her, painting is a profound
journey of self-expression and discovery. Drawing inspiration from music, dance, nature,
and the rich tapestry of human experiences, her artworks resonate with intensity and
emotion. Alejandra has showcased her artworks in New York, Barcelona, Milan, and
Zurich. For this exhibition she will showcase a series of abstract paintings in smaller sizes.

Amy Ang paints a wide array of themes from natural landscapes and animals to expressionistic abstract images. Her love for vibrant colors and energizing brushstrokes stems from her Asian roots. Coming from Singapore, a little island-city bursting with myriad cultures and diverse cuisine, she wants her art to express the simple joys in life and to encourage an appreciation of our surroundings and human connections. This will be the first art show where she presents her complete series of large-scale abstract paintings titled Soft Power.

Ghiya Haidar is a multidisciplinary designer from Beirut, Lebanon, currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. Guided by uninhibited curiosity, playfulness and instinct, she creates works that are stripped down to their essence to resonate feelings of rebellion, existentialism and frivolity. Ghiya primarily expresses herself through typography, photo manipulation, illustration and paint, utilizing different media to convey diverse ideas to their fullest potential.
