Im Jamaika des Jahres 1976 sind politische Unruhen an der Tagesordnung. Reggae-Musiker Bob Marley – zu dieser Zeit bereits ein Star – überlebt zwar ein Attentat, verlässt danach aber sein Land. In London entsteht das Album «Exodus», mit dem ihm der Durchbruch gelingt. Seine Botschaft wird nun gehört, seine Songs wie «No Woman, No Cry» werden grosse Hits. Doch das Schicksal wartet mit einer bösen Überraschung.
