Die Petite messe solennelle von 1863 ist Rossinis zweite umfangreiche sakrale Komposition. Die ungewöhnliche Besetzung der Messe für Singstimmen, zwei Klaviere und Harmonium steht in der neapolitanischen Cembalo-Tradition des 18. Jahrhunderts. Das Werk erklingt in Amriswil erstmalig als Weltneuheit in der Fassung mit Klavier und Grosser Orgel!
