"Apéro Géopolitique" conference on the theme: “Ukraine: What’s Next? The Polish Perspective”.
The ongoing Russian - Ukraine war concerns not only the territory and sovereignty of Ukraine, but also different visions of Europe, rooted in the unfinished end of the Cold War. After 1991, a clear new security framework was not established. The 2007 Munich speech and the ambiguities of the Budapest Memorandum reveal a deeper conflict: a struggle for the very order of Europe.
Ukraine is currently bearing the brunt of this confrontation, becoming a main battlefield. For Poland - bearing in mind its history, this conflict has a more complex meaning. The question posed in the title, “What next?”, however, is not only a problem for Poland, Ukraine, or the region, but for the whole of Europe. Does the continent still grapple with memories of Cold War bloc logic?
This conference will be an opportunity for an open debate on the role and perspective of Poland and Polish society, among others, in relation to this geopolitically complex situation.
