Als sich die Geschworenen zur Beratung zurückziehen, scheint alles sonnenklar: der junge Mann hat seinen Vater ermordet. Nur kurz«schuldig» stimmen und ab zum Baseballspiel.

Doch die kritischen Fragen eines Einzelnen zwingen die restlichen Geschworenen dazu, ihre vorgefassten Meinungen zu hinterfragen. Plötzlich steht das Konzept «des begründeten Zweifels» im Raum.

Im stickigen Beratungszimmer prallen die unterschiedlichsten Charaktere aufeinander, was zu knisternder Spannung, aber auch zu skurrilen und lustigen Momenten führt.
