Hampi is an 8th-generation belt maker in Appenzell. His family has been practicing this craft since the 1800s. On June 13, he's opening his atelier to a small group of seven.
Morning - The Workshop
You'll spend the morning by Hampi's side, learning the craft that has been passed down through eight generations of his family. You'll choose your leather, learn traditional embellishment techniques, and make your own Appenzeller belt from scratch. While Hampi applies the finishing touches, the day opens up.
Afternoon - The Alps
A scenic train ride to Wasserauen, then a cable car up to Ebenalp. Lunch at Berggasthaus Aescher — a legendary cliffside inn carved into the rock face. A hike down through alpine meadows to Seealpsee. Jump in if you're brave.
Evening
Return to Appenzell to collect your finished belt. Optional farewell drinks with the group.
