Der Abend eröffnet mit drei Menuetten von Giacomo Puccini – ursprünglich fürs Streichquartett gedacht, in der Orchesterfassung von Matthias Arter fein ausgeleuchtet. Aus dieser kammermusikalischen Geste wächst ein grossformatiger Dialog: Anastasia Kobekina, eine der gefragtesten Cellistinnen ihrer Generation, führt durch Tschaikowskis Rokoko-Variationen mit leichter Hand, klarer Linie und spürbarer Spielfreude.

Nach der Pause werfen Brahms’ Ungarische Tänze in einer von Kobekina eingerichteten Fassung für Violoncello und Orchester einen frischen Blick auf bekannte Melodien. Zum Schluss entfaltet Brahms’ Serenade Nr. 2 A-Dur op. 16 ihren warmen, eigenständigen Klang: die besondere Besetzung ohne Violinen schafft Raum für leuchtende Holzbläserfarben, weite Bratschenbögen und ein samtiges Fundament der tiefen Streicher.

Das Kammerorchester Basel steht für künstlerische Vielseitigkeit und stilbewusste Klangkultur – von historisch informiert bis zeitgenössisch. Anastasia Kobekina, ausgezeichnet u. a. mit dem Leonard Bernstein Award 2024, verbindet technische Brillanz mit neugieriger Musikalität.
