Werke von Johann Christoph Bach (1642–1702), John Dunstable (1390–1453), Hildegard von Bingen (1098–1179), Guillaume de Machaut (1300–1377), Heinrich Schütz (1585–1672), Orlandus Lassus (1532–1594), Allessandro Grandi (1586–1630), Oum Kalthoum (Egypt 1904?–1975), Claudio Monteverdi (1567–1643), Dietrich Buxtehude (c.1637–1707), Giovanni Felice Sances (ca. 1600–1679) und Ghalia Benali (*1968).
Das Hohelied der Liebe steht im Zentrum des Programms, das uns das Ensemble Zefiro Torna, das Vocalconsort Berlin und die arabische Sängerin Ghalia Benali mitbringen. Die biblische Gedichtsammlung über die durchaus auch erotische Liebe – im christlichen Kontext insbesondere als Allegorie auf Gottes Liebe zu uns Menschen gedeutet – hat bereits im Mittelalter und in der Renaissance viele Vertonungen erfahren.
