PAPER MIRRORS
A Brief Introduction to the History of Psychedelic Art and the Emergence of Blotter Art
In this richly illustrated talk, Kevin Barron offers an insight into the history of psychedelic art and the emergence of blotter art. He explores how psychedelic visual worlds developed and how printed blotting paper evolved from a functional medium into an artistic form in its own right. Drawing on selected examples, Barron examines the cultural, social and aesthetic contexts of this distinctive art form.
The talk opens a fascinating window onto a visual universe where counterculture, contemporary history and art intersect, while also providing a deeper introduction to the exhibition.
