Your German is actually quite okay but speaking still feels a little uncertain sometimes?

You already understand a lot, know many words, and manage quite well in everyday situations. But when you want to speak spontaneously, the right words suddenly disappear, or you simply notice that you do not get enough practice.

Maybe you have even been living or working in Switzerland for quite some time, but still end up speaking English more often than German.

And perhaps traditional language classes with textbooks, grammar exercises, and teacher-led lessons are simply not your thing?

Then this format might be exactly right for you.

Let’s speak German in Basel.

We meet in a small group of no more than 3 participants and spend two hours speaking High-German together. Relaxed, informal, and over coffee or tea.

No classroom. No textbook. No vocabulary tests.

Instead, we talk about everyday life, travel, work, Basel, current topics, and anything else that can turn into a good conversation.

The conversation is moderated by Torsten. He keeps the discussion flowing, introduces topics and questions, and makes sure everyone gets enough time to speak.

If you are missing a word or your sentence is not perfect, that is absolutely fine.

Because the goal is not to speak perfect

Your German is actually quite okay but speaking still feels a little uncertain sometimes?

You already understand a lot, know many words, and manage quite well in everyday situations. But when you want to speak spontaneously, the right words suddenly disappear, or you simply notice that you do not get enough practice.

Maybe you have even been living or working in Switzerland for quite some time, but still end up speaking English more often than German.

Because the goal is not to speak perfect German, the goal is to actually speak German.

This conversation group is right for you if you …

  • already understand and speak some German.

  • want to start using your German more actively.

  • want to become more confident and spontaneous when speaking.

  • live in Basel or Switzerland and would like to speak more German.

  • are not interested in traditional language classes.

  • prefer learning through conversation rather than textbooks.

  • feel more comfortable in a small group than in a large class.

  • have a sense of humour and do not take mistakes too seriously.

You do not need to speak perfect German. A solid basic understanding is enough. The important thing is that you can already hold a simple conversation and want to speak more.
