Early-Career Researchers' Working Conditions
The GSFN Summer Meet 2026 brings together early-career researchers from across Switzerland for a day of open discussions, practical insights, and networking at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) headquarters in Bern. It is open to members of the GSFN and all researchers with a link to Switzerland . Everyone is welcome to join the apéro after the programme officially ends at 16:30 (see below).
This year's edition focuses on one of the most important topics for researchers at the beginning of their careers: working conditions. Together with representatives from the SNSF and invited experts, we'll discuss the realities of academic careers today—from funding opportunities and recent changes to SNSF career schemes, to diversity, equity and inclusion, and the growing impact of AI on research and the academic job market.
This is a chance to ask questions, share experiences, connect with peers, and engage directly with the people shaping the Swiss research landscape. The day will also include plenty of opportunities for informal conversations over coffee, lunch, and our closing apéro.
Programme
- 09:30 – 10:15 Arrival, registration & networking coffee
- 10:15 – 10:45 Welcome and introduction to the Global SNSF Fellows
