[Saturday] Full-day Long Form Workshop - Laura Maynard

The Murderet are thrilled to welcome Laura Maynard to Geneva for a weekend of workshops and a community jam night!

Laura is an experienced improviser, performer, teacher and writer, and after ten years in Chicago, she is now a full-time cast member and instructor at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam.

This weekend is about building strong, transferable improv skills, whether you play short form, long form, or both. Expect practical tools, lots of play, and a focus on connection, discovery, and having fun together as a community!

Prerequisite: 1-2 years of improv classes

This is ideal for any improviser who wants a crash course in Long Form Improv. Laura spent ten years in Chicago coaching and performing long form improv, and this workshop will help anyone take that first big leap into the long form world. We will spend time defining, practicing, and strengthening key long form editing moves. Learn how to trust your already well-trained improv body clock and always stick the landing. We’ll do this by running through long form sets with Laura’s side coaching that is focused on following the fun with finding clear themes and edits. 

If you’ve done some long form before, this is an opportunity to get more confident and comfortable at making long form moves.
If you’ve never done long form before, you will be able to walk out of this workshop with an understanding of all the basics.

Community night (Saturday 7:30pm) (optional):
The first half of the evening will be dedicated to this Saturday workshop's participants, who are invited to take part in a long-form jam, playing together with Laura and members of The Murderet.

The evening will then continue with a short-form jam open to all.

We want these workshops to be as accessible as possible. For each workshop, we offer a limited number of subsidized (50% off) spots if the full price would be a barrier.
Each person may claim one subsidized spot for the entire weekend.

Cancelation policy
We understand that life happens! We can offer a 50% refund for if you cancel before March 4th.

Because spaces are limited, late cancellations make it difficult for others to join and can impact our ability to fairly compensate our trainers.

BIOs

Laura currently lives in Amsterdam where she is a full-time cast member and teacher at Boom Chicago. 

Before that, she spent ten years in Chicago. Laura earned a Comedy Writing and Performance degree at Columbia College Chicago. She has performed improv and sketch comedy at The Second City, The iO Theater, Logan Square Improv, CiC, The Annoyance, and countless wonderful little theaters that are now hair salons.
