Gaza Fundraiser Get Together

Amid all the tragedy unfolding in Gaza, we, a group of friends in support of Palestine, are inviting everyone to come join us for a lovely, empowering evening filled with palestinian culture. 

There will be Palestinian food, live music, a corner where you can art & craft your own Palestine merch as well as talks from Palestinians and a screening of the movie «Ambulance» by palestinian filmmaker Mohamed Jabaly. 

Everyone is welcome and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination – wheteher islamophobic, antisemitic, racist or otherwise hateful. We want to bring people from all walks of life together and raise awareness about the dire situation in Gaza.

At the same time, we will be donating ALL proceeds from this event to The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to have a direct impact on Gaza. After Israel's baseless accusations that multiple UNRWA-workers were involved in the attacks of the 7th of October, Switzerland and other countries halted their payments to the United Nations Organisation. Due to this, the agency missed out on lifesaving funds.

UNRWA is responsible for most humanitarian help within the Gaza Strip and other areas of Palestine. It has a mandate to provide assistance and protection to Palestine refugees, who were expelled in 1948 and beyond. If UNRWA collapses the humanitarian consequences would be catastrophic – and the refugee status of millions of Palestinians would be lost.

Inmitten der Tragödie, die sich in Gaza abspielt, laden wir, eine Gruppe von Freunden von Palästina, alle ein, mit uns einen ermutigenden Abend voller palästinensischer Kultur zu verbringen.

Es wird palästinensisches Essen geben, Live-Musik, eine Ecke, in der ihr euren eigenen Palästina-Merch herstellen könnt, sowie Vorträge von Palästinensern und eine Vorführung des Films «Ambulance» vom palästinensischen Filmemacher Mohamed Jabaly. 

Jeder ist willkommen, und wir dulden keine Art von Diskriminierung –  egal, ob sie islamfeindlich, antisemitisch, rassistisch oder anderweitig hasserfüllt ist. Wir wollen Menschen aus allen Gesellschaftsschichten zusammenbringen und Bewusstsein für die katastrophale Lage in Gaza schaffen.

Gleichzeitig werden wir ALLE Einnahmen aus dieser Veranstaltung an das Hilfswerk der Vereinten Nationen für Palästinaflüchtlinge (UNRWA) spenden, um einen direkten Einfluss auf Gaza zu nehmen. 

Nach den beweilosen Anschuldigungen Israels, mehrere UNRWA-Mitarbeiter seien in die Anschläge vom 7. Oktober verwickelt, stellten die Schweiz und andere Länder ihre Zahlungen an die UNO-Organisation ein. Dadurch gingen dringend benötigte Gelder verloren. 

UNRWA ist für den Grossteil der humanitären Hilfe im Gazastreifen und anderen Gebieten Palästinas verantwortlich. Ein Zusammenbruch hätte katastrophale humanitäre Folgen und würde den Flüchtlingsstatus von Millionen von Palästinensern auslöschen.
