How do I implement a Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) ID for my event marketing?
With the Eventfrog Pro package, you can add a Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel) ID to your event page. This allows you to track how users interact with your event and run more effective ad campaigns based on real data.
What is tracked by default?
Eventfrog automatically sends the most important events in the booking process via the integrated pixel:
-
Page View
View of the event detail page -
Add to Cart
Adding a ticket to the basket -
Checkout Start
Opening the checkout -
Purchase
Successful completion of the order
These events cover the key steps in the booking process: from viewing the event detail page to successfully purchasing a ticket.
Not every individual step within the booking process can be tracked reliably. This mainly applies to technical or external steps where consistent tracking is not possible.
These include, for example:
- Login and registration processes
- Completing address details
- Payment pages of external payment providers
Some of these steps take place outside Eventfrog’s direct control or do not provide consistent tracking data.
How can the checkout be tracked additionally as a conversion?
To evaluate checkout views in Meta more specifically, you can create a custom conversion. This is based on the checkout URL and can be named, for example, «Checkout Eventfrog».
How to create the custom conversion in Meta:
- Open the Events Manager.
- Under Datasets, select your pixel.
- Click Create in the top right-hand corner.
- Select Create custom conversion from the dropdown.
- Enter a name for the conversion, for example Checkout Eventfrog.
- Under Action Source, select Website.
- Under Event, select All URL traffic.
- Set the rule to: URL contains /shop/basket.
- Click Create to save the conversion.
The checkout URL differs depending on the country:
- Switzerland: www.eventfrog.ch/en/shop/basket
- Germany: www.eventfrog.de/en/shop/basket
- Austria: www.eventfrog.at/en/shop/basket
How do I implement a Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) ID on Eventfrog?
Click on «Events» in the sidebar of the cockpit and open your desired event. Under the «Tracking-Pixel» section, you will find the option to enter your Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) ID and implement it directly into your event. For this, you need your Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) ID, which usually consists of 15 to 16 digits and looks something like this: 123456789012345. You can find this ID in the Meta Business Manager.
For more information on creating the Meta Pixel, click here.
Note: Users must explicitly consent to the use of marketing pixels. If they do not consent to this use or have an ad blocker installed, no data about their activities can be collected. As a result, it is possible that not every purchase or interaction can be tracked by the marketing pixel.

Meta Pixel error: «Pixel is unavailable on this website»
When integrating your Meta Pixel, the following error message may appear:
«[Meta pixel] [Pixel-ID] is unavailable on this website due to its traffic permission settings.»
What does this mean?
The pixel is not allowed to fire on the website used because Meta has only approved it for specific domains. If the Eventfrog domain is not included in these traffic permissions, Meta blocks the pixel.
How to solve the problem:
- Open your Meta Business Manager.
- Go to the «Events Manager».
- Select the affected pixel.
- Open the «Traffic settings» or «Traffic permissions».
- Check whether the relevant Eventfrog domain is listed there.
- If the domain is missing, add it.
- Reload the page and test the integration again.
Depending on the country, the relevant Eventfrog domain should be approved:
- Switzerland: eventfrog.ch
- Germany: eventfrog.de
- Austria: eventfrog.at
You can find more information in Meta’s help article about traffic permissions for the Meta Pixel
