"Es begab sich aber zu der Zeit..." So beginnt die Weihnachtsgeschichte, die jedermann kennt. Unerreicht ist die Musik, die Johann Sebastian Bach zu diesem Text aus dem Neuen Testament geschaffen hat. Prachtvoll beschwingte Chöre wechseln sich mit kontemplativen Chorälen und Arien ab. Zusammen mit den barocken Instrumenten des Orchesters L´arpa festante wird Bachs geniale Tonsprache im Kirchenraum der Stadtkirche lebendig.

In den Kantaten Nr. V und VI stehen die Ankunft und die Anbetung der Weisen aus dem Morgenlande im Mittelpunkt. Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium am Dreikönigstag - der ideale Abschluss der Weihnachtszeit.
